Day 15 – Post-Op Follow-up

It’s here! Two weeks since my surgery, and my first follow-up with the surgeon. All in all I think things are tracking well and I am grateful. The first 6 weeks are critical for healing and recovery, and so far things are looking good.

My stitches have been cut, my wounds are clean and dry, I’ve got great extension and 90 degrees flexion. There is swelling and discomfort but nothing out of the ordinary. There is still a deep muscle/bone ache but physio also says nothing out of the ordinary.

Thankful that it has been as smooth as it has been.

The surgeon adjusted my brace so I have 90 degrees flexion at all times – YAY and I can put my foot down (this means a LOT to me) – although it does get a little uncomfortable and swells up if its down for too long.

I can also stand and put my full weight (knee extended straight) on it. I just cannot move around with any weight on my leg.

R. and I celebrated with a meal at Homeground and half an iced flat white (I’m trying to minimise any caffeine intake so my sleep / healing isn’t impacted). It tasted glorious! The sun was shining, the weather was glorious.

I know healing will not be linear, so we must celebrate the good moments.

Physio has been progressing well too – 4 days ago I could barely raise my hamstrings, and now – I am adding weights for my hamstrings, quad lifts, etc. It’s all right on track.
