We’re nearly at day 7. An entire week since the surgery. Today we modified the wheelchair – “extending” it by placing one of those cushions with a backrest on top of the wheelchair for greater comfort / elevation, and I was wheeled around the block by A. and R. I rewarded myself with a teh c kosong peng at Airfield for my efforts. Damn, it felt good to be out. Lovely weather. The greenery was so vibrant.
R. made me ABC soup, a bean salad. I’ve never eaten so consistently cleanly for so long. Feeling so blessed.
Then L. came over and we all hung til midnight.
My biggest struggle is sleep – I can’t sleep for more than 2-3 hour stretches at a time.
Biggest wins:
- Friends coming over to distract me
- A. fashioning this super comfy wheelchair so he can wheel me about and get some sunlight/greenery
- Partner cooking super healthy food for me
- Going to the toilet with crutches, unassisted
- Brushing teeth with crutches, unassisted
knee-deep in recovery
